A Message from Your Commissioners
This newsletter is my opportunity to update the patrons of the Worley Fire District on our accomplishments for 2009 and our goals for 2010.
The biggest and most exciting news from 2009 is the completion of our new Station #1 located at 31541 South Highway 95 near Setters. Construction was finished in December and we moved in just before Christmas. The new station is centrally located in the district and houses six pieces of fire fighting, rescue, and EMS apparatus. This modern facility also provides plenty of room for personnel to meet and train. I would like to invite everyone to come see the new station at our grand opening scheduled for June 12th.
The fire district will still maintain four outlying stations. The station in Worley is now Station 2. Station 3 serves the Conkling Park area, Station 5 serves Cave Bay, and Station 6 continues to serve the Rockford Bay/Black Rock area. The old stations at Rockford Bay and Sun Up Bay have been decommissioned and we are considering their disposal.
In 2009 we also began responding to ALS medical calls in tandem with Worley Ambulance personnel. This strengthens medical response in the district and provides improved service to our patrons.
We are looking forward to another great year in 2010. The district currently has four personnel training to become EMT’s. This is a great asset and will help improve the level of medical service we can provide. We are always looking at ways to improve recruiting, training, and retaining firefighters. Finding good volunteers can be a challenge and our district cannot function without them.
It is my goal to continue to move forward and maintain a high level of professionalism in our staff and give our patrons the best service possible. I hope everyone has a fun and safe 2010.
