Message from the Chief

Welcome,
It is my honor to serve as the Fire Chief for the Worley Fire District.
As professional members, both volunteer and career of the Worley Fire District, we are committed to making the citizens of the Fire District our number one priority.
I joined the Worley Fire District in 1980, as a junior firefighter, and have seen firsthand the once rolling farm and timber land transformed into Golf Courses, a Casino complex, and residential homes with all the amenities necessary to support our lifestyles.
There has been a price to pay for this lifestyle, however; with growth comes an increased demand for public service.  Your once all volunteer Fire District has progressed into a combination Fire District with limited full-time staffing and a new Fire Station which was constructed to house additional staffing as our call volume increases.
It is, and continues to be, our mission to protect and care for our neighbors, our guests and ourselves, and to maintain the communities trust and respect through superior life safety services.

As growth continues within our community, so has an increased demand for fire protection and emergency services.  Within our mission to protect and care for the citizens and property in the Worley Fire District is to provide Fire Prevention awareness.  Wildland/Urban Interface involves a large portion of the District and commands a large effort on our part to get the message out about the importance of Visible Addressing, Fire Breaks, Greenbelts, Road and Driveway Access, and calling 911 for assistance.  I would also like to take this opportunity to let the community know that Worley Fire District is available to provide fire risk assessments for your Interface per your request.  As Deputy Chief of Operations, I am honored to serve this community and am committed to providing quality as well as timely emergency services.

Message from the EMS Division ChiefMelissa Howard

On behalf of the Worley Fire District, I am very excited to announce that we are moving forward in our ability to provide emergency medical assistance and upgrading our education.  Through the months of March and April, our EMS personnel have been going through an EMT-B bridge course which will step us up from a First Responder, which is where we are now, to an EMT-B (Emergency Medical Technician—Basic) level.  With the ever changing needs of our community, this will help us to better serve our community and enable us by providing the highest quality of Emergency Medical and Support Services and to better assist the ambulance personnel on scene.  In addition to stepping up our medical certification, we have also acquired a “new-used” ambulance, a 2003 Freightliner/Wheelcoach, in which we have converted to a Rescue Response Vehicle...R480.  As you may remember, we started running ALS (advanced life support) calls with the local Ambulance service a little over a year ago.  Worley Fire District’s mission is committed to protecting life and property, whether it is for our permanent residents or visitors to our great district; through Fire, Rescue, EMS, or Public Education.  This is not only our job, this is what we do, and anyone of us will proudly tell you that we love it and there is no other job we’d rather do!!

Also, as always, we are continuing to offer CPR and First Aid Classes for any of the general public.  You can inquire on class times or sign up for one at our administrative office and we’d be happy to assist you.  It is important to remember that the sooner CPR is started, the greater the chance for survival is.  Unfortunately, many people, even ones who have been trained in CPR, are reluctant to administer it for fear of doing it wrong.  Remember that when indicated:  Good CPR is better than bad CPR, but even bad CPR is a million times better than NO CPR at all!!!
                                    Melissa A. Howard

District the protection they deserve.
